Abstract:

Bosonic fields undergoing linear evolution are often used to describe physical systems. There exist a number of subtle mathematical questions and non-trivial algebraic formulas related to bosonic fields, which in my opinion should belong to standard education of a theoretical physicists. Canonical Commutation Relations (CCR) provide a natural abstract formalism for these questions. If time permits, I will describe one physical application of CCR -- quantisation of relativistic scalar field interacting with an external classical pertubation. There exists a parallel formalism of Canonical Anticommutation Relations (CAR), which is used in the context of fermions. I will have no time to discuss it, but  I may mention briefly its similarities and differencies with CCR.
