In the last 15 years, the theory of synthetic Ricci curvature bounds, which gives rise to the notion of synthetic curvature dimension condition has seen a wide development. In this talk, I will give a brief  introduction to the topic with attention to some geometric consequences that the curvature dimension condition implies.
