Abstract:

In this talk I will discuss some results on the geometry of multiplicative quiver varieties, which are moduli of representations of the multiplicative preprojective algebra of a quiver defined by Crawley-Boevey and Shaw in 2006. In particular, I will prove that they are symplectic singularities in the sense of Beauville and discuss when they admit symplectic resolutions. I will apply such results to the study of the geometry of certain singular punctured character varieties and outline some conjectural corresponding theorems in the context of parabolic Higgs bundles. This is a joint work with Travis Schedler (Imperial College London).
